Remember Jerry? - August 1, 2008
How can anybody forget Jerry? Jerry was a Walnut Grove drummer once upon a time. Jerry's been playing with Natural Born Easy for a few years now. They're an awesome band that plays fun blues/country/rock tunes. Sometimes we do shows together and here comes one now:

What's in a list? - July 25, 2008
Folks on the internet have learned to dislike spam these days and who can blame them? About a year ago, Walnut Grove Band deleted its entire email list so that a new one could be rebuilt.
There are very few people on the new email list simply because the only way to be on it is to sign up yourself! If you want to know what's happening with Walnut Grove Band then visit the website, right? Right! Being on the email list is a good idea too because sometimes the email list contains up-to-date information that GroveTrotters want to know about. We stay awfully busy here in the grove.
It is easy to get on the list and to get off the list too. We don't add you...you add AND update yourself. Here you go:

SoundQuilt 2008 Photo Review - July 4, 2008
Walnut Grove Band recently performed at the 2008 SoundQuilt Music Festival in Strasburg, Virginia.
Many folks were recording, taking photos and running video.
William Mitchell Studios, an artist from Virginia, provides the festival T's for SoundQuilt, Wilderness Jam, Cecilfest and more. The festival logo this year featured a graphic image of the honeylocust thorns which make for curious conversation at the host venue, Stewart-Matheny Farm. William had his camera at SQ 08...
Deanne Good is 50% of FirkinGood. Her camera was workin' too...

Old Man SoundQuilt & Cecil - June 11, 2008
SoundQuilt 2008 features a bunch of awesome bands. Walnut Grove Band will be there too.

A couple weeks later, WGB will be performing at another well-known Virginia festival called Cecilfest. The first time Walnut Grove performed at Cecilfest was back in 2000 when Walnutt was not just playing, but also running sound for the event which featured other rising bands such as Old Crow Medicine Show, The Hackensaw Boys, Ubiquitone and more. Cecilfest is always breaking new ground in a positive way. It's good to be among family once again.

Walnut Grove Band wood carvings - April 16, 2008
A few years ago...well, actually 4 year ago...Pete Anderson of Winchester, VA agreed to make some wood carvings for Walnut Grove Band.
In early 2004, Walnut Grove Band recorded "The Walnut Groove" and Pete's wood carvings, Walnutt's photos, Casey Firkin's artwork, Jane Firkin's puppets and William Mitchell's graphics combined to complete the audio/visual experience.
Walnutt opened the cigar box in which the carvings had been stored for 4 years and photographed them on April 16, 2008...

Walnut Grove Band Spring 2008 Edition - April 13, 2008
Walnutt and Wayne got together on a windy, warm Saturday afternoon this past week. Some of the classic WGB tunes they worked on were Tonebox, Old School Summer, Clover, Tomorrow and some more. You can hear the duo on a version of Tonebox recorded during the session. Visit the MUSIC page.
Wayne also recorded a beautiful stereo piano track for a tune he wrote called "Leap Year" which will be the framework of the first track on the new WGB CD recording.
Emil returns again next week. The trio is seeking a fourth player, a drummer, to complete the new line-up and continue work on the new CD as well as build new arrangements of classic wgb tunes.
The Walnut Grove Band E-Mailing List is rebuilding. To be on it, you'll need to sign up:
It's on. - April 7, 2008
Walnut Grove Band woke up the Shenandoah Valley on Sunday morning April 6, 2008.
The new Walnut Grove Band is:
Emil Cardiel - Bass & more
Wayne Zimmerman - Keys/Synth & more
Mark Stewart - Guitars/Vocals & more
The guys have a few new tunes in the works and are revisiting works from Walnut Grove Band's prior recordings. The new arrangements include keys and synth as well as an overall new sound from the trio.
WGB is searching for a talented, diverse drummer to expand the new line-up which will likely perform at SQ 2008 and some other select events during the 2008 season as they produce a new collection of recordings!
More soon...
